We are very excited to announce that Gary has been selected as one of only 66 local Halifax Giving Extra Award local winners for 2015.
Carolyn, his wife nominated him for the work he puts into the Swallowfield Community Responders as well as Heartstart Swallowfield and all of the fund raising that he achieved for the original purchase of the scheme vehicle and the numerous AED’s that are now within the community. His nomination was selected, out of the thousands that the Halifax received, for the difference he makes in his community. They reviewed every nomination, shortlisted the best and then ran a series of panels up and down the UK to select 66 Giving Extra Award local winners.
We are extremely pleased for Gary and of course the team as despite it being a single nomination, it is always the team together that really makes the difference.
Gary’s nomination is now being reviewed and will be put forward for 7 regional winners, each of whom will receive £5,000 for their group. We are of course keeping our fingers crossed as these funds will mean the deployment of yet more AEDs into the community. Gary should know if he has been successful or not towards the end of February.
Whilst we do what we do because we believe it can really make a difference to the people in the community in which we live, it is always nice to receive such recognition.
